Fierce competition for employment has increased the number of people, but enrollment is expected to decline
According to the Ministry of Education, from Saturday to Monday, it is estimated that there will be a total of 341 million people to take part in the National Graduate Entrance Examination in 2020, an increase of 5.1 million over the past year.
A survey of the eol.cn 's website found that the increasing competition in the employment market was the main cause of this growth.
When asked whether graduate students will help them find a job, the examination of the applicant 57% of respondents think it can make them significantly more competitive in the job market force, 42 percent said they would use a little bit, and only 1 % of people do not expect it to improve their chances.

When asked why they want to pursue a master's degree, 61% of respondents said it would strengthen the competitiveness in the job market, 53% of people said they wanted to get a higher degree, 25 percent of people say they do not like their undergraduate majors and 25 percent of people say they want to wait a few years before entering the job market.
Zhang Sijia, 22, a senior majoring in accounting at Beijing University of science and technology, said she wanted to study finance at the Central University of Finance and economics, also in Beijing.
"if I enter the job market now, I won't be unable to find a job, but I think a master's degree in finance will give me a better chance of finding a well-paid job," she said.
Many work have higher academic requirements of today, she says, a master's degree, a bachelor's degree now is somewhat similar to 20 years ago.
"Almost half of the students signed up for the exam because if you want to find a decent job, it's inevitable to pursue a higher degree," Zhang said.

However, the report says, students will find it harder to enroll in graduate courses.
Although universities have increased their graduate enrollment, the growth rate is far lower than the number of applicants, and the overall enrollment rate is expected to drop from 27.6% this year to a 20-year low of 25%, the report said.
The enrollment rate at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics fell from 18 percent in 2017 to 15.6 percent in 2018 and 13.4 percent in 2019, while the enrollment rate at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, fell from 21.5 percent in 2017 to 20 percent last year and 16.9 percent this year, according to the data.
Qin Yuan, 23, a postgraduate year at Shanghai International Studies University, said competitive examination has become more intense in recent years, because there are more applicants.
Qin Tong, who graduated from Wuhan University of physical education in June, said: "when I took the exam last year, I was fully prepared for possible failure. I will start looking for a job immediately. The exam is not sure who you are. Even if you fail, you can try again next year, or start working. "
