There are many significant differences between Cat.7 structured cabling system and Cat.6 structured cabling system:
1. Transmission bandwidth, Cat.7 can provide a transmission bandwidth of at least 600MHz.
2. Cat.6 provides a combined attenuation to crosstalk ratio of at least 200MHz and an overall bandwidth of 250MHz, and Cat.7 provides a combined attenuation to crosstalk ratio of at least 500MHz and an overall bandwidth of 600MHz.
3. Cat.6 structured cabling system can use UTP or STP; Cat.7 structured cabling system can only use UTP, and each pair of wires has a shield layer, and the four pairs of wires together have a common large shield layer .
4. The extra shielding layer makes the wire diameter of Cat.7 larger.
5. When the connector of Cat.7 is at 600MHz, all pairs provide at least 60DB of integrated near-end crosstalk; Cat.5e only requires 43DB at 100MHz; and the value of Cat.6 at 250MHz is 46DB.
